Quality Jacket
Extremely cozy and comfy. My 11-year-old daughter is on the tall side & skinny, and she wears an XL. We’ve had this same down jacket in smaller sizes over the years, and it wears & washes well.

Love the look not the feathers
The jacket is warm, fits well, and looks great — exactly what I expect from LL Bean. But it sheds white feathers every day, and for a kid with sensory issues, that’s a big problem. No visible rips or damage, just constant feather leakage through the fabric. Wish the quality of the shell was tighter because the style and warmth are fantastic, but the shedding makes it hard to recommend.

Love this coat
Warm, Durable, and attractive. This coat hits below the waist on the back to keep out the snow and wind. An XS was slightly big on our 5 year old and I have a hunch we will get 2 years out of it. That’s a win!

Perfect winter coat for mild central N.C. winters!
My son loves this jacket! It’s one size too big (on purpose) but he doesn’t mind because it keeps him so warm! I will say it’s very important that you actually measure your child before you purchase this because clothing sizes and L.L. Bean jacket sizes seem to have a discrepancy in what you would expect. As long as you measure your child, there should be no problem!

Beware DO NOT WASH THE COAT
I bought this coat for my daughter last year in September 2023. No issues last season. Unfortunately today she came home with pigeon poop all over her coat so I attempted to wash it. I followed the instructions on the tag. I washed in delicate cycle and could immediately tell when it was done that the filling wasn't the same. The tag says to tumble dry low so I thought maybe that would help fluff it back up. But it did not. There's clumps of damp down filling everywhere and the jacket now looks deflated. Very upset that I followed the instructions and it was ruined. I was hoping to get at least two seasons of use out of it. Now I need to look for a new coat.

Great Color and Warmth, but Down Escapes Too Easil
I recently purchased an L.L.Bean down jacket for my son, and there are things I love and things I wish were better. First, the color is absolutely beautiful—it’s vibrant and just as shown online. The coat is incredibly soft and warm, making it perfect for colder weather.
However, I noticed that after just a couple of wears, the down started escaping from the seams. It’s a bit disappointing, especially for a brand known for quality. While the jacket is still functional and cozy, I’m concerned about how well it will hold up over time.
