Product Details

These heavyweight wool pants have long been the preferred outerwear of Registered Maine Guides during harsh winter months. Adjustable comfort waist adapts to different layers.

We've always insisted on using top-quality, tightly woven wool for these classic pants. It's warm when wet, quiet in the woods and exceptionally durable for many seasons of hard use in the field. In fact, wool has been a staple of Maine sportsmen for generations because of its reliability, durability and versatility. A hidden comfort waist adjusts quickly when you add or remove layers.

  • Heavyweight blend of 85% wool/15% nylon.
  • Dry clean.
  • Ideal for late-season hunts, ice fishing and cold-weather work.
  • Two front pockets, two back button-flap pockets.
  • Suspender buttons.
  • Very breathable to help keep you comfortable when you're working hard.
  • Hidden Comfort Waist accommodates a light layer for even more warmth.
  • Quiet design and fabric help keep you stealthy while in the field.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried, true and warm pants I’ve owned a pair of these pants since 1980. I love them. they just feel like home. The fit is so comfortable and the wool is cozy. I use suspenders with them which I find most comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential for Oregon winter Very Warm!! A Maine stay for winter even if you don't hunt they are dressy enough to wear for many occasions. Looking for more colors this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice! I am an old Eagle Scout from the mid late eighties. I was taught in Scouting that the best overall type of clothing material for cold weather camping is wool. That is why I bought these wool pants. Despite all the high tech synthetics, you really can't beat old fashioned wool clothing for cold weather!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Item Good value and very durable. Expansion band in belt for older users. Pockets big enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wool Pants These are great wool pants for the winter weather. They are styled quite full to allow for freedom of movement with layers underneath. I particularly appreciated the suspender buttons already installed since I always use suspenders with my pants.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I like the weight of wool and the color. Unfortunately, the "comfort" waistband and the overall cut are terrible. The elastic waistband is the only structural element holding the front of the pants to the back at the waist. The effect is like an old pair of sweatpants in that the waistband has little integrity. Size 38 pants could just as easily be size 44 with little resistance. Additionally, the pant leg is just shy of 10 inches across at the bottom, that's almost a 20 inch opening at the bottom of the leg so the overall effect is that of a pair of clown-pants, though in a nice wool. I wish there was more focus on cut and fit here.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rough riders They’re rough and crude but warm. You’ll need to wear them with longjohns, or they’ll scour off your skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants! It's 5 degrees this morning, and I'm running the snow blower. Can you imagine the cold without these thick wool pants? Sizing is perfect, function is perfect, and I'll get another pair of these beauties "just because"! You can vary the long underwear to match the cold-they're wool, so they're itchy-but with the long underwear, they're the best Winter pants I've ever had!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality wool pant. I would not recommend these wool pants. They are cheaply made and based on one season in the field I doubt they have another season in them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely wool pants! Lovely soft and breathable wool pants. Everything I wanted for hunting and cold-weather hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best I have had these pants for years. Wear them in snowy cold weather in Northern Wisconsin. I will not go outside without having them on. They are the BEST bare-none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and baggy Wonderfully warm if a bit baggy. Perfect for the wet winter days of the pacific north west. Although it says dry clean only, I am able to run it thru the cold/gentle cycle of my washing machine and then hang it up to dry. Pricey and well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So so warm! My husband also LOVES his new pants. Hunting in Maine is a cold sport but he hasn't been cold in these!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from To be continued The pants feel great , love the stretch waist design. I have not worn them in the field yet but I’ll write a review after the hunting season.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy The wool material of these pants is light and flimsy. As a result, the pants are not warm, wind easily cuts through, and the pants do not drape well. Very cheap material ruins these pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine gear As advertised; quiet, comfortable over pants or base layers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wool guide trousers Perfect fit and feel. Well made. Nothing better than wool when hunting in winter in the Rocky Mountains

Rated 3 out of 5 by from They are not "heavy weight" I own 3 different weights of wool pants for deer hunting and ice fishing in New England. I purchased these pants for the warmer days as they are a much thinner wool than other brands. They work great for that application, however I wore them last week on a rainy day to scout for the upcoming archery season. They tore very easy on a blow down I stepped over. Unfortunately with Bean no longer having the warranty they once did, I'm out 139.00 and a pair of light weight wool pants. I would recommend them but they are what they are. As for fit, legs were fine but the waist is a little tighter than most of my others. I would certainly try your typical waist size and the next size up if that's an option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from N/A Haven't used them yet, but they fit great and the elastic waistband allows for a half size larger, just in case. So glad to be back in wool pants. There's nothing better to hunt in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bringing me back to wool. Tight enough weave to stop wind. Light enough to minimize weight. Great pant for my activities

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest pants I own Really a nice fit and style. Wearing them over another pair of pants is perfect in the extreme cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wool pants Loden wool pants were purchased for a winter trip to Iceland and have yet to be used. They certainly look warm enough and are typical of LL Bean products in that they appear to be a quality item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wool pants novel design with the gathered knees and elastic waist. Works very well. need suspenders. The shirt gripping waist rubber adds some girth, but serves the purpose. Not like the wool overalls of distant past purchase which are no longer available, but serviceable. Made in China of course.
