Nice but a little short
I'm 5'9" tall and this vest only comes a few inches below my belt...it's okay for me (but just barely) but I wonder how it would be for those taller than me. I know young people (I;m an old guy) wear things tighter and shorter so maybe that's the idea here!

Packable Vest
Great vest. Had one for years and wore it often in cold weather. It packs up small, went to Boundary Waters with me one year in May and wore it every day. Put on some weight with age and decided to size up to a large tall. Bean large is very large. Guess I can wear it over more layers.

Deceptively light weight !

The Good, Bad and the Ugly
The Good: Fits into its own zippered pocket making it great for travel. Has a large zippered top pocket, large enough to hold a phone and wallet, inside pocket with zipper, hand pockets with zippers, all zippers are YKK quality. Warm and lightweight.
The Bad: The price. The orange material inside is too loud.
The Ugly: I'm a size 41 chest. The medium fits a bit tight, the large fit me like a pillowcase.

My husband normally wears a L, but the M gave a better snug fit, if that is what you are looking for in appearance. It is perfect over a sweatshirt, or this T-shirt. gives that extra warmth, is cozy, and comfortable. My husband loves it!! Great material too. Highly recommend.

Takes me places I couldn't go without it
Thumbing through my hard drive, came across this picture of me and my Boxer in December 2019, a couple of months after I
lbought this vest. This was the first time I really put it through its paces.
I live in California's Central Valley, a few miles inland from the Sacramento Delta. Winter can be rather chilly and damp, especially when there's a breeze coming in over the Delta.
This picture is from a beach overlook about four miles north of San Simeon, CA on the Pacific Coast Highway right where the elephant seals congregate shortly before the New Year, just stretching out on the beach and increasing their population.
Late in the afternoon, two days before Christmas, a bit overcast, roughly low-40s, relatively high humidity by the feel of things, and winds gusting up to better than 30%.
And there I am, standing a stone's throw from the shoreline, 68 years old, arthritic back and hips, discs the consistency of tofu wearing a t-shirt and a Polartec 200 jacket, ready to get back in the car and let everyone else watch the seals.
Had the vest packed up in its pocket hanging from a belt loop and, long story short, put it on over my jacket and hung around outside for an hour taking pictures and enjoying the local critters.
My arms could have used a little more protection from the temperature, but even with the wind whipping in there, my upper body stayed warm, no sense of a wind chill and still free to move about comfortably carrying two cameras strapped around my neck and a 70-pound Boxer on a leash.
Great quality and craftsmanship, which shouldn't surpise anyone coming to this website or to one of the brick-and-mortars. Simple, functional, efficient design that fit my 5' 10", 170 lb frame perfectly.
And it's just as much of a blessing taking the hound up into the Sierras for a brisk autumn stroll.
I've learned to trust the guys back in Maine to keep me comfortable, protected and going places I couldn't go otherwise at times I would otherwise I'd be spending at home.

Zipper does not zip smoothly. Very frustrating.
Zipper does not zip smoothly. You will need to use both hands to zip. One to pull the jacket down, and the other to zip.
The zipper on the Men’s Ultralight 850 Down Sweater Hooded Jacket is super smooth, and very easy to zip with just one hand. It is the best zipper I have had on a jacket. I wish this same zipper had been used on this vest.
