The small but mighty pack - our smallest pack makes an ideal first pack for students just starting out. Same time-tested construction and rugged materials as our L.L.Bean Original Book Pack.

Durable classic backpack
Highly recommend the junior original book pack. We have bought this backpack for each of our boys when they started preschool. It fits little kids' shoulders well. It is durable and handles daily use by rambunctious kids. Our 2nd grader is still using the same backpack from preschool and it looks like it will still last well for a few more years! There is enough space for notebooks and folders and artwork.

Lifetime bags!

One happy 5 year old girl!
I anticipate that my five year old granddaughter will say "I can't believe it!" - her standard statement of surprise and delight - when she receives this gift on Christmas. It's the very pink she's asked for and it will be decorated with keychain charms hanging from the sturdy zipper pulls. Inside its roomy spaces I will hide small wrapped gifts and a card with an animal balloon. Charlotte's mom and I agree that she will grow into this pack, a tiny bit large for her right now. I'm guessing she'll want to use it, and fill and empty it, right away.

Great size and construction
I got this for my 3.5-year-old son after the (cute but somewhat flimsy) backpack I got him for 3K last year didn’t hold up well. And seriously, 3-year-olds barely even carry anything—like a folder and a snack! This backpack feels sturdy and well made, so I hope we’ll be using it for years to come!
