Wonderful boot but way too small
I was really hoping these would fit, but they are way too small. I couldn't even get my foot in the boot barefoot. Unfortunately, I wear an 11 and could not order the next size up.

Good boots- seem to work in rain and snow
I was looking for waterproof boots for dog walking in the Pacific Northwest that would also work in the snow. They were given a test this week on grip since we had snow, which then turned into ice, and traction was better than my old snow boots.
I was worried since other posters wrote they needed breaking in- normally I'd wear boots around the house to make sure they fit well (in case I wanted to return them) but these boots come with several warnings to not wear them inside as they can damage floors. So I've just tied the laces on a lower grommet for the break in period.
Because I don't think they're fully waterproof (due to lacing/tongue) I will switch to my other fully sealed boots when we get a lot of snow, but I believe these ones will work well the majority of the time. Grip has been good, but certainly not foolproof- it's still been necessary to do what I call the 'Minnesota Shuffle', which is that shorter stride you take when walking on icy surfaces.

Haven't officially worn them yet but I was very impressed with the inner sole comfort. Bought these to walk this winter in NE VT. The outer sole looks impressive, we'll see, usually wear a pair of get a grips over winter footwear. Fit is great, I'm usually an 8 to 8.5 and I ordered 8.5 for these and looking forward to my walking with warm stable feet:)

Runs exceedingly small
Ordered a 9 when I normally wear an 8.5. Literally could not get my foot in the boot, it felt more like a 7. I’m assuming the item was marked incorrectly. The quality was awesome and the vibram sole was a big selling feature. Unfortunately returned.

Great boots!
Warm and comfortable, great fit even with thick socks, and they don't slip on mud, ice, or snow. I had a pair of these before and my only complaint was that after 5 or 6 years of constant winter wear, the plastic top over the toe box cracked and split.

A winter weather essential
Theses boots are waterproof, warm and have great grip in snow, ice and muddy conditions. My previous Rocky brand boots finally dry rotted and I needed a good boot for winter hiking on PA wooded trails. These boots are terrific! We’ve been experiencing an early spring thaw and they are equally good in muddy conditions. I wear a 7-1/2 to 8 shoe and have a narrow foot. I ordered a size 8 and they fit well with a mid weight Smartwool sock. I did add an insole which feels even better, but again, I have a very narrow foot! Highly recommend! Thanks llbean!

Good for Walking
After finding out that the arctic grip womens snow sneaker was sold out(my favorite),I opted for this variation on a walking shoe.These are great in the black, and good for my large orthotic to fit into.So if you have a sliding kneecap and flat feet this shoe will keep you walking. When walking on snow this is fine,but use caution with ice...the booties don't replace crampons or ice climbing gear.
Laces are an issue-I replaced mine on the snow sneakers as they unravel.

Excellent boot for winter walking
I purchased these boots in black, size 8. I’m usually a solid size 8. First few times wearing them, the upper part of my right foot around the ankle was a little sore. But between a little breaking-in period and not lacing that boot up as tightly as the left one, there is no longer any soreness.
The little bit of extra gripping on the bottoms is absolutely wonderful and I can feel a difference from my other boots. On wicked icy days, I still have to use my ice-traks, but they are easy to put on over the boots.
I love the black color, which goes so nicely with my L.L. Bean black down coat and mittens. Thanks for making great products for the great outdoors! I think it’s the Norwegians who say there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

Stable footing!
I have to walk on ice and snow in my condo parking lot often in the winter. Not much sunshine to melt it. These boots keep me stable and comfortable. Definitely the best purchase I could make for winter boots!

Bought these recently to replace some Merrell's that are similar except the old ones had a zipper. Their main purpose is winter fat tire biking. The soles are helpful stepping down on icier surfaces. I was impressed how comfortable they felt right away and so far they seem warm enough. I plan on also doing some winter hiking and I anticipate they will fit the bill for that, too. My old boots have Arctic Grip as well, and I agree they do well in most situations, but they are times I need ice grippers as well.

Toasty warm
Even with medium weight socks, the excellent insulation kept my feet warm on frozen ground. I would have preferred an all leather top, not fabric and leather mixed, and a little bit better finishing on the tongue, buy still a very nice winter boot for walking on winter trails with the slip resistant Vibram sole. I will get a lot of wear of these.

Great Bootie
In Black its attractive and warm. I did not like the brown as much as the black, mostly because the brown has fabric that picks up dirt. They are equally warm.
I think changing the laces to a waxed set might be an idea-as the laces tend to slip out-hence the four star review. I would definatly recommend this to someone who wants to switch out of snow sneakers for the worst part of winter.Wear with thick socks as this shoe is wide in the toe area.Order 1/2 size down for this one....

Love these boots!
We hike 3 to 4 miles daily with our dogs in the woods of New Hampshire. I’ve been wearing my new boots for about a month now with heavy wool socks. They required minimal breaking in and are relatively light and comfortable. They seem to be molding to my feet and have not experienced any ankle discomfort as the shoe tongue is padded and will become much more malleable with repeated wear. We are always crossing streams and my boots remain waterproof and dry. At this time, I’m very happy with my Stormchaser boots and look forward to wearing them throughout the winter. I will, however, continue to wear my microspikes for icy days. A must for New England winters and my senior bones. They are dependable wear.

Good comfortable winter boot
I ordered 1/2 size larger than my normal size (9) based on reviews, and I think this was a good decision. Probably could wear the 9, but the extra room allows for a thicker sock for really cold days, and I find that I have a lot of room but not too much for my toes to move when I go up and down trails, and my feet stay warm. These were comfortable right out of the box. I wear them instead of walking shoes for walking in the snow and over frozen surfaces, going 3-4 miles with no discomfort. The Arctic Grip helps but does not prevent slipping on ice or snow over ice, so you still have to be careful and deliberate when stepping. The fabric around the top of the boot started pilling on the first use, but I can live with that, these don’t need to look “pretty” for my outdoor uses. I plan to wear them a lot in winter and hopefully will wear them out before they fatigue.

Great Boot!
I rarely leave reviews however this boot exceeded my expectations so much I had to spread the word.They are comfortable, not stiff, easy to walk in, the laces allow preferred snugness but there is still plenty of room in the toe box to wiggle your toes. They fit great and so far I have had no problems with ice and snow. I've had the arctic grip on other Bean shoes and were not disappointed then and I'm not disappointed now. I'm currently wearing them as I sit at my office desk writing this review and my feet are very happy. These are truly a go-to boot for winter!

Best Winter Boots
These are by far the best winter boots I have ever owned. They are wicked warm but relatively lightweight for a winter boot. Easy to put on and off with just the right height over the ankle to walk (or hike) through deeper snow. The arctic grip sole is great on ice and wet surfaces. They are super comfortable - great for winter hiking. I also love this blue/grey color and the only caution I would post is to order a half or even a full size up. Thank you llbean, the quality of your products and attention to detail is extraordinary. I imagine that I will be wearing these boots for many years, as all of your products are made to last.

Like snow tires for your feet
I love these boots! We live on sloping land, and when it's icy it becomes treacherous. I got these boots and deliberately tried them out on some icy patches. They work like a charm, no slipping at all. They're a bit heavy with such a tread, naturally, but not terribly so. On top of that, they are warm and look great. My opinion, these boots are a winner!

great boots!!
I LOVE these boots!! I have a short but very steep and, in winter, slippery ascent going to one of the schools I serve. These boots handle it very well. While there have a been a couple of times they slid, it was every so slightly. I'm relieved not to have to worry about traversing that part of the walk between schools. When I first tried the boots on, I thought I should have ordered a larger size. After wrestling them on and wearing them for just a couple of hours, I realized they have excellent support and just needed a bit of breaking in. All subsequent donning of the boots have been without incident. They are very well made and well worth the purchase.

Warm as can be
I work at a warehouse so I wanted some sturdy workboots that woulf also keep my feet warm. These are too warm! My feet would sweat with all the movement so now I just use them for everyday outside. They are tanks! Sturdy and slip resistant. They will keep your toes warm in the snow. Nice for our walks or hikes. I love them.
