This portable, easy-to-set-up beach umbrella is designed to resist winds that topple other umbrellas. It also provides UPF 50+ sun protection.
Wind and beach umbrellas can be a tough combination. This unique umbrella is designed to withstand gusty winds without falling over or turning inside out. This is achieved with an innovative, patented venting system in the canopy that lets wind pass through rather than lifting the entire umbrella up.
- Umbrella canopy is made from 210D polyester with mesh inserts.
- Umbrella ribs consist of durable fiberglass.
- 32 mm two-piece pole is made from powder-coated steel.

Best beach umbrella
This is the best beach umbrella! It is very sturdy even on a windy day and is large enough to put three beach chairs, large beach bag and a cooler under! Thinking of getting a second.

It is ok Nothing special
Not a bad umbrella for the most part A bit small shade wise Does not dig into the sand very deep so I had to anchor it with tent stakes which was easy due to the Thandle The Thandle should go through both top and bottom sections but it does not so technically the top could dislodge and go flying There is no where to anchor it beyond the clamp mech which is not the greatest Overall I would not recommend this to anyone And as other reviews stated it lets the sun through at certain angles LL Bean does not allow punctuation so sorry if this is hard to read

Excellent for the breezy beach!
Easy to set up. Handles the wind very well if you anchor it deep enough. I really like the height of it. You can't walk under most umbrellas, but this one is perfect. Provides enough shade for two people.

Cannot handle even mild wind
This is a disappointment. It blows over VERY EASILY even though it is deep in the sand. It flipped inside out within several minutes. I have had much less expensive beach umbrellas in the past that have stayed more upright. I have to hold onto it just to take this photo.

GREAT umbrella
This is a late review but one I hope will be helpful. We have had this umbrella for the better part of four years and we have another as a back up that has not been needed to break out yet.
Live in coastal North Florida and go to the beach alot, year round.
Impressive longevity for the price ( gone up in price since bought). A good tip is to plant it a little deeper than you think you should on a windy beach day. On a windy day we dont use the tilt. This battle hard work horse has been providing shade and good times for the family without fail. Some strings underneath are tattered but it still keeps going. I only wish that Bean still offered the printed leaves umbrella again from a few years back. Seems it was only offered for a season, would be great to bring that back for woodsy locales. Would buy again if needed no hesitation.

Good umbrella for the price
We have only used this umbrella once so far. It is easy to set up and lightweight, vented top is nice. The end of the umbrella has a screw tip for better stability in the sand. It was breezy the day we used it and we used the tilt feature to tilt into the wind. We did take another reviewers advice and bring a small shovel to anchor the umbrella deeper in the sand. I think that helped. Since we have only used it once, can't say how it will hold up when exposed to stronger winds. I only wish the LL Bean printing on the outside of the umbrella was not so large.

Beach Umbrella
Our beach is very windy. We have tried other umbrellas, but this one is by far and above the most stable umbrella we have ever used. It is lightweight and easy to carry. I recommended it so highly, my neighbor had to have one and we ended up buying a second one for guests who visit.

Disappointed!
I purchased my Wind Challenger Beach Umbrella 2 years ago when we moved to a coastal town. We tried to use it a few times when we first received it and the wind kept taking it. We never bothered last year and I tried again today with the same result. There were many other, less expensive looking beach umbrellas which were working perfectly fine. Don't know what I'll do with it but won't take it back to the beach again.

Keeps blowing away!
I was looking forward to using this at the beach last week. Unfortunately every day it blew away. I thought it would be stable with the screw type pole, but each day it came out of the sand. It got better after I stopped using the tilt , but I am disappointed.

Not enough cork screw to hold in the sand
The spiral cork screw on the end which allows the umbrella to have a strong grip in the sand is too short and does not keep the umbrella stable enough.

Sturdy and easy to handle
We used this umbrella in Rhode Island this week in windy weather which collapsed 2 umbrellas nearby. Easy to assemble and easy to adjust the upper piece to angle as the sun moves. The auger works well in soft deep sand. No complaints.

Excellent Beach Umbrella
This is our third summer using our Bean beach umbrella. It is still in excellent condition and looks great. We visit the Florida and Alabama gulf coast multiple times throughout the summer and this umbrella never disappoints. We carry a small collapsible shovel in our beach chairs and dig a pretty deep hole to ensure the umbrella is in buried deep enough to withstand strong wind gusts. We have never had an issue with it. Highly recommend.
