Great purchase
I haven’t owned a winter coat for over 50 years since I lived in southern FL and then southern AZ. After moving to TN and encountering 19 degrees one morning in December I came home and found this coat on line. It’s very lightweight and warm and does everything I need, A perfect choice.

An everyday coat for everyone
Fabulous coat, stylish and functional. Dark Plum is a beautiful color. Medium fit a bit snug with a heavy sweater so I went with the Large to be roomier. Attached hood is functional, sits well to stay in place. The fact that is coat is warm yet folds up into its own stow pocket is a huge bonus! I'm a big fan of two way zippers, perfect for fast walking and car rides. My only wish is that the coat was an inch or two shorter.

Great coat.
Great coat: light, warm, fashionable. True to size.Didn’t have a chance to ware it in really cold weather, so I don’t know how warm it is in that weather. Would recommend to a friend. I’m 5’1” 115lbs and bought a. Size petite small. Can put a fleece jacket under and it’s not tight.

Great jacket!
I love this jacket! So far I’ve worn in France and Germany for the Christmas markets, but will be great for Maine winters, too. I love the length and the down is toasty without being too bulky. Highly recommend!

Not very warm
I bought this coat last winter. I live in central VT and have a dog that needs to be walked a few times a day. It has been my habit to also walk to my office, one mile from my house. I was replacing a Columbia parka that is big and bulky. I was very much looking forward to a lightweight warm down coat. Unfortunately I absolutely freeze in this coat. It is just not warm enough when the weather is below 35, or so. After wearing it for a year and adding so many layers beneath it to stay warm I have gone back to wearing my old Columbia. It’s not stylish but at least it keeps me warm.
Sorry, llbean , poor and misleading advertising on the warmth factor of this coat. It works great in the Speing and Fall.

Ultralight 850 awesomeness

Lots of things wrong with this coat
The quality of this coat does not justify the price. The hood is too floppy and squared in the front. The elastic around the wrists is cheap looking. I ordered a PM and it was too tight (i’m 5’2 and 140lbs). The L is too big.

returning–not like my older one
I have a lightweight 3/4 coat from Bean I got several years ago, has been wonderful except for the zipper which failed and can't be replaced according to our local seamstress place (snaps in the way). Sadly this new one won't work for me, very disappointing.
Pros:
Beautiful color, soft fleece inside pockets, zippered side pockets, good length, fit okay (though slimmer in hips than my old one) except for too long arms
Cons:
smells awful of some chemical (that alone makes it impossible to keep for me), quite a bit thinner than old one of this style so not as warm, flimsy zipper, hood not detachable (old one was), sleeves too long, outside fabric a thinner nylon (not sure would hold up), no inside pocket with a zipper (there is a large stuff pocket inside)
Please please Bean, go back to the older style which though thicker and warmer still stuffs into a small pouch and has a detachable hood & better fabric. And please get rid of whatever the chemical smell is and improve the zipper.

Great Coat
Every place I wear this, someone stops and ask me where I found a long down coat . I am now on my 4th coat. My only complaint is the zipper. When you are paying $300.00+ for a coat, you don’t expect that the first thing you have to do is take it to alterations and have them replace the zipper. They are nylon zippers which hang up repeatedly. Please change the zippers.

Very warm, lightweight, cozy. The outer material is not cat claw proof in the slightest, but i have not ever found a jacket that is. its a lovely jacket, perfect for keeping warm. if you are between sizes, size up because if it is tight on you it will be less warm. the puffiness/air is what makes it so warm.
